The big news for Christmas 2009 is that Bob Dylan, the almighty scribe of rock and a card-carrying Jew, has waxed a Christmas album: Christmas In The Heart. Hell, apparently, has frozen over, but the results - perhaps predictably - are less than impressive, even a little creepy. For the most part, Mr. Zimmerman croaks his way through holiday classics with a straight face - or maybe not, Jokerman - and the album can be, to put it mildly, a difficult listen. No big deal, though, since the proceeds benefit a charity - Feeding America - and any serious fan of either Dylan or Christmas music must buy one. One of the clear highlights is his rollicking rendition of the children's chestnut "Must Be Santa," and he shot an equally rambunctious video for the song. Now, you can hear the Christmas music I write about! My Christmas Jukebox is bulging with over 350 tracks, and I'll be adding more rockin' Yule tunes throughout the year. [listen now]
